Pork chops baked with apples!
Do not horrified by seeing or tasting this dish. Its flavor is really enjoyable and the baked apples provide a buttery texture to the soft and juicy steaks.
The sweet taste of apples is barely perceptible to our palate.
The pork with apples, quinces and other dried fruit blend fantastic together.

Baked Pork Chops with Apples

Ingredients (4 servings)

  • 4 pork chops
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 apples
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 250 ml/ 8.5 floz warm water
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
Sprinkle salt and pepper on the pork chops.
In a large, deep skillet, heat the butter and fry them until they get color from both sides.
Τransfer the pork chops in large, shallow baking pan.
In the skillet, you used to fry them, add the flour to brown and saute.
Add the warm water gradually and mix with quick movements until creamed.
Let it boil for a while (~2'), and remove from heat.
Add a little salt and vinegar.
With quick movements peel the apples…
…and place them over the chops.
Add the honey on top of the apples…
…and the cream from the skillet.
Cover the pan with aluminum foil and place in oven at 180°C/ 350°F/ Gas 4 for about an hour.
Ten minutes before the end, remove the foil to give a nice brown color to the food.
