Green red, colors, festive, for Christmas on this cake, salty cake without cooking. With ingredients delicious and popular, which make it impressive, but hearty and very tasty. Bread, cheese, ham, pickled peppers, cream cheese and others are the ingredients that compose it.
For gourmet selections in crowded festive dinner parties, together with a sparkling wine and a simple white sec demi wine is the best company that we can enjoy.

Savory Torte Savory Torte

Ingredients (16 servings)

  • 20 slices (4 slices × 5 layers) of toast bread
  • 4 ham slices, for toast
  • 4 cheese slices, for toast
  • 600 gr (1.3 lbs) cream cheese, half cold
  • 400 gr (14.1 oz) sour cream, thick, cold
  • 3 spring onions, chooped
  • 3 red peppers, pickles, choped
  • 4-5 cucumber pickles, thinly sliced or chopped
  • 2 tbsp anucleated olives, sliced
  • 1 tbsp capers, desalted
In a large mixing bowl, pour the cold sour cream and beat briefly with a hand mixer. Add the cream cheese and beat well until you have a thick mixture. From this mixture you remove approximately ⅓ and refrigerate for later, for garnish. In the remaining ⅔ add the chopped onion and mix well.
In a serving platter place 4 of the slices of toast in the same horizontal plane, put a spoonful of the mixture of cream cheese/ onion in the center of each slice and spread to cover all the bread and the gaps between the bread.
Above the first layer of cream put slices of ham.
Cover with another 4 slices bread.
Spread the bread again with the mixture of cream cheese / onion and cover with slices of cheese.
Cover with slices of bread.
Spread a third time the bread with cream cheese and scatter the chopped pieces of pepper.
Repeat the same in the fourth layer, placing 4 slices of bread and spreading the last dose of the mixture of cream cheese/ onion. Cover with pickled cucumber, few olives and some capers.
Cover all with final layer the last 4 bread slices.
With the mixture of cream cheese, we kept aside, brush well the sides of the cake…
…and the surface. Clean the plate with paper towels and refrigerate until the time you need to garnish.
* The salty cake should be prepared from the previous day and served cold.

Covering/ Garnish

  • 4 round slices ham
  • 4 round slices cheese
  • some parsley leaves
  • some olives slices
  • 1-2 lettuce leaves, curly
  • pistachio, crushed
  • pomegranate beads

Proposal for garnish: Sprinkle the surface and sides of salty cake with pistachio. Roll the cheese and ham, cut in half and place them in the center circle and alternately. Add intermediate the olive washers. In the corners of the vertical sides stick parsley leaves. In the center tailor the curly lettuce. Scatter pomegranate beads on the platter and the edges of the cake.
