Sesame Seed Cookies

Ingredients (∼20 cookies)

  • 300g (10.6 oz) flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 140g (4.9 oz) sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 140g (4.9 oz) butter
  • 1 star anise
  • 2 eggs
  • 100g (3.5 oz) milk
  • black & white sessame seeds
In a small saucepan and on a very low heat, add the butter and star anise to warm until butter melts.
Remove from heat and let it cool until it reaches room temperature.
Remove the star anise and add the eggs.
Beat with a whisk for a few minutes to create a thick creamy mixture.
In medium size bowl, sift the flour with the baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the sugar.
In the bowl with the flour, add the beaten egg mixture and vanilla.
Mix the ingredients and knead briefly until you have a soft and velvety dough slightly sticky. If necessary add a little, very little, flour.
Take small pieces of dough weight ~33g (1.2 oz) each and mold oval cookies.
In the same bowl, in which you had the dough, add the milk and dip each cookie, with a very quick move, to get wet.
Roll it in sesame wrapped well with it through all the sides.
Put them in a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper and spaced, because they swell.
We continue in the same manner until all the dough is finished.
Bake in a preheated convection oven at 220°C (428°F, Gas:7.1) for 12' exactly, browned from top and underneath. Do not forget that you have turned your attention to the oven continuously.
