Ingredients (~1 small jar 250g)

  • 2-3 large oranges
  • 6 tbsp. sugar
  • ½ tsp. baking soda
  • twin & needle
  • cinnamon, clove
  • water
Wash and peel the oranges. Cut the peels lengthwise into thin sticks.
We roll the thin sticks one by one and pass them with the needle to the string making a necklace. Tie the 2 ends of the string.
Put them in a saucepan with some baking soda and enough water to cover them. Boil them for about 3′-4′ to remove the bitter taste from the skin.
Drain the water and put them back in the pot together with the sugar and any aromatic spice or herb we like. Cinnamon, cloves, rosemary, laurel.
Mash the flesh from one orange in a food processor. Pass it through a strainer and pour it into the pot along with extra water, so that it covers them well. Boil them until they soften and the syrup sets. Put the Orange «Necklace» in the hot jar and pour over the hot syrup in which they were boiled. Cover with the lid.
