Ravani Semolina Cake
Ravani with the flavor and taste of orange. A cake with semolina, soft and unique. The syrup, gives it extra sweetness.
Accompanied perfectly with an ice cream scoop. Try it!

Ravani Semolina Cake

Ingredients (~8 servings)

  • 200g/ 7.1 oz sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tsp sharp, salt
  • 130g/ 4.6 oz flour, self raising
  • 180g/ 6.3 oz fine semolina
  • 3 tsp sharp baking powder
  • 1 orange, juice and zest
  • 150ml/ 5.1 floz milk


  • 700g/ 1.5 lbs water
  • 500g/ 1.1 lbs sugar
  • 3 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 small piece of orange peel
  • 3 tbsp butter
In a small bowl mix the flour, semolina and baking powder. Leave aside for a while.
In larger bowl, break the eggs and add sugar and salt.
Beat together to a cream, 8'-10'.
Keep beating while adding the juice of an orange…
… and the milk.
Add the flour mixture and stir gently with a spatula until the incredients are incorporated.
Finally add the orange zest.
Pour mixture into buttered and floured baking pan or silicone mold…
… and bake at 175°C/ 345°F/ Gas 4 for 35′-40′ or until cooked through and get a golden color.
As long as the cake is baked prepare the syrup. Boil for 5' all the ingredients together and after the cake has cooled, pour the syrup slowly to absorb it well before cutting.
