Orange sauce
|
Start by preparing the orange sauce. Peel and cut the orange into small pieces, put it in a small pot to boil with the juice, zest, sugar and the water. After it has been cooked and has absorbed most of its juices, dissolve the cornflour in 2 tbsp water and add to the mixture to boil until the sauce thickens. Leave aside to cool. |
Mix the dry ingredients of the cake in a bowl. The flour, vanilla and baking powder. Then in another bowl, beat the eggs with sugar until whitewash and swell. Leaving aside the mixer, use a spatula to add the flour and the oil into the beaten eggs mix… |
…add the orange juice. Finally, add the orange zest. |
Stir the mixture gently and briefly until smooth. |
Grease and flour an ovenproof pan and pour in half the mixture. On top, put the sauce, spoonful by spoonfuls, carefully not to go to the edges of the pan. |
Finally, pour the remaining cake mixture, over the sauce. Bake in preheated oven at 170°C/ 340°F/ Gas Mark 3 for ~50 minutes or until cooked. We test the blade of the knife, which should come out clean. Remove from the oven. Leave on a wire rack to cool. |
![]() We can use a narrow cake pan. If you do, use baking sheet to make easier to take the cake out and cut it into slices. |
Sprinkle with a little icing sugar, serve and simply enjoy ethereal aromas and orange flavors!
